Understanding

Understanding
Roles of Users

Teradek TV differentiates users into four different roles to ensure your production is seen and managed by all the right people and that crucial settings aren’t accidentally changed.

Within each Project, users have designated roles, which determine what activities they can do. There are four roles: Administrator, Coordinator, Technician, and Viewer. Roles are specific to the Project— for instance, you could be an Administrator in one Project and a Viewer in a different Project.

Note: Roles can be changed at any time by an Admin or Coordinator.

Administrator Role

Administrators can view and control everything, from cameras to users to billing. Most commonly, the administrator would be your producer, line producer, unit production
manager, or studio technical department.

Coordinator Role

As a Coordinator, you will have access to the Sharing Dashboard, where you can create
Spaces, collections of cameras, live feeds, and recordings shared to various Viewers.
Coordinators also have the ability to adjust roles of existing users as well as add users via the “Users” tab of the dashboard. Coordinators would be your production assistants.

Technician Role

Technicians make sure the equipment is set up properly to keep cameras connected to
Teradek TV, to allow others to see live feeds in the Camera tab. Technicians can manage
device and camera settings, and cannot manage spaces and users. Technicians would be your DITs, ACs, or studio technical department.

Viewer Role

Viewers can see the live streams, spaces, and recordings. Commonly, the viewers would be the executive producers, producers, director who is directing remotely, editors, hair and makeup team, art department, and any remote collaborator. Viewers only use the Teradek TV viewing app and do not have the ability to make any changes.

Daily Viewer

As a Daily Viewer, you will have access day by day to Spaces, collections of live feeds and recordings. There may be other Viewers in your Space with whom you can collaborate via text or voice chat, if enabled by the Admin or Coordinator.

Adding Users

1. Add users in several places in the Teradek TV management app.

In the Dashboard tab, go to the Users section, and select + to add users.
In the Users tab, select Add Users.

2. In the pop-up box, enter an email address. Assign a role in the dropdown menu, which can be changed anytime.

3. The new user will receive an email inviting them to join your Project.

4. Users should follow the prompts to create an account.

Removing Users

1.In the Users tab, navigate to the user you want to remove.

2.In the profile section, select Remove User.

Editing Your User Profile

Users can update their profile picture, change their display name, or add any relevant company information.

1.Select your profile picture in the upper right corner. Select Info.

Changing Roles

Administrators and Coordinators can change users' roles at any time.

Administrators can change any user’s role at any time.
Coordinators can only change the role of other Coordinators, Technicians, and Viewers. Coordinators cannot change an Administrator’s role.
Technicians and Viewers need to contact their Administrators or Coordinators to have their roles changed.

How to Change a User’s Role

1. From the Teradek TV management app in your web browser, navigate to the Users tab and select the user you want to edit.

2. In the Role section, select the new role. Admins and Coordinators can change a user's role later.

3. Select Save at the bottom left of the screen to confirm your selection.

How to Restart your
Teradek TV Streams
when Encountering
Live Feed Problems
(Admins Only)

Each Teradek TV project has its own Streaming Server– think of this like the engine that runs your live feeds in the cloud.

To restart your Streaming Server, navigate to the “Settings” tab.
Under “General Settings,” scroll down to “Region”.
Verify that the current region you have selected applies to your shooting location or Production Office.

If the current region is applicable, continue down to the “Streaming Server”.

If the current region is applicable, continue down to the “Streaming Server”. Ensure that the Streaming Server is on the latest firmware version. The “Version” number should be highlighted in green. If it's highlighted in orange, this means your server needs updating. There will be a button to “Update Server.” Updating your Server will interrupt all current streams for about a minute.

Select the “Restart Streaming Server” button. This will also interrupt all live feeds while the system restarts, so please ensure any viewers attempting to watch Live Feeds from the viewing apps are aware that you are interrupting their feeds.
After the Server is restarted, and the “Status” line reads “Online,” go ahead and recheck the stream(s) from the viewing apps.They should be back up!

When you reach out to our team, please first download and email the “Server Logs,” using the “Download Server Logs” button located next to the “Restart Streaming Server” button. These Logs will help our support team troubleshoot for you.
